Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid joined other Worcestershire MPs in meeting with the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, to secure a clear timetable to get the Alexandra Hospital back on track.
The meeting comes as the West Midlands Clinical Senate endorses county-wide service reconfiguration plans to give the stability needed for patients and medical staff into the future.
At the meeting Sajid emphasised that his constituents’ priority was a functioning NHS they could rely on:
“After years of uncertainty for everyone involved, we need a clear and well-communicated plan to deliver stability for services, medics and patients alike. It’s time to turn a new page and get The Alex back on track”.
As a result of such efforts by local MPs, the Health Secretary has called on NHS Development and NHS England to ensure timely implementation of new service configuration plans.
Commenting on the meeting, Sajid said:
“I’m pleased that the Health Secretary recognises the urgency of our case. Now that the West Midlands Clinical Senate has approved a county plan, it’s important that there is proper consultation followed by swift implementation. This is crucial for patients and for staff”.
