The new members of the Conservative-controlled Cabinet on Bromsgrove District Council have been revealed at the Council’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 20th May 2015.
The shake-up follows the Conservative victory in the District Council elections on 7th May, in which Bromsgrove Conservatives retained control of the Council with a five-seat majority.
Cllr Margaret Sherrey, Leader of the Conservative Group, was re-elected as Leader of the Council at the AGM. During the meeting, she announced the appointment of portfolio holders who sit in the Cabinet. Cllr Kit Taylor and Cllr Rita Dent retain their positions in the Cabinet, whilst councillors Geoff Denaro, Rod Laight and Peter Whittaker have been promoted to positions as portfolio holders.
The AGM also saw the elections of a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council. Cllr Caroline Spencer was elected as the new Chairman and Cllr Helen Jones was elected as the new Vice-Chairman.
Cllr June Griffiths, who had been Chairman of the Council for the previous five years, decided to return to the backbenches. She told councillors at the meeting that she had enjoyed being Chairman, and thanked everyone who had supported her during her time in that role.
